Grotesk (Part 1)

The task of introducing a new character is never easy, particularly when the character is a villain.

The detective in Batman must find out who this new villain is, while Grotesk claims to be on the same side as Batman.  I understand that Batman must uncover the truth, but does the reader have to work this hard?  Not that I’m opposed to a good mystery, but the story failed in giving me a sense that this was my task.  I was halfway through the book when I realized that I really didn’t care too much about Grotesk.  His character was not developed enough.

I know the writers are limited but they could leave some more room for the development of a potentially impressive character.
