Comic Book Day backcbd

Success is in the Details

I’m trying to build my collection–that is no surprise.  In the midst of buying as much as I can from Midtown Comics, I occasionally have to fill in the blanks from other sources.

When I heard that I was moving to Germany, I had to find an online shop that would meet my needs.  I found a comic book shop that met my needs–Midtown Comics–but, at the time, I didn’t know how much I like them until this week.

I chose Midtown because of it’s size and, frankly by the way their web-page looked–which says much about the importance of web design–I also was convinced by their advertisements that they would meet my needs.  I recently was also introduced to their wonderful back issue section–a danger to my bank account for sure.  I was nervous about their self-stick bags, but was soon happy about it.  I didn’t realize how much I liked it until I had to order from Mile High comics.

To be fair, the 25 comic books I bought and received this week were in good condition and the order was correct.  I was also impressed that the company emailed me every step of the way as the books were sent.  They were also sent the package by Priority Mail, which meant that I received my comic books sooner.

I was disappointed, and then angered, that the comic books were sent with only a bag–no board.  My patience was tested as I was forced to open every comic book bag (closed with scotch tape) and insert my own board that I had brought over from the states. The tape was sticking to everything–the board, my arm, the comic book–as  tried to make them look as good as possible.  These bags are a little detail, but one of the reasons why I stay with Midtown.

Midtown’s website shows attention to detail–the bags show attention to details, and I trust how they will take care of me.  These little details are what Mile High is missing.  It seems to me that for a company that has been around as they have would find a way to get this right.
